Challenges

To keep me motivated, I am going to set some weekly challenges for myself.  Any suggestions would be wonderful. I've stolen this from PhotoChalleng.org to begin.

Weeks 1-4 (January 1 – January 23): RESOLUTION

Weeks 5-8 (January 24 – February 20): NATURAL LANDSCAPE
Weeks 9-12 (February 21 – March 20): SIGNS
Weeks 13-16 (March 21 – April 17): DOWN LOW

Weeks 17-20 (April 18 – May 15): FLOWERS
Weeks 21-24 (May 16 – June 12): GADGETS

Kiddos

My first subjects are ofcourse the kiddos.  I am finding that I'm more interested in "real life" unscripted photos than in more carefully posed portraiture. This may be due inpart to my subjects, but can also be attributed to my fondness of natural images.  It's something about the pure, uncoaxed laugh, smile, tear that hearkens to the true character of a person, not that traditionally posed portraits don't have there value.  We'll try our hand at those later.

Getting Started

So I finally found a hobby.  I don't know if I've had one since I collected rocks and shells in elementary school.  Guess I spent so much time doing what I was "supposed" to do that I never took the time to figure out what I really wanted to do. And with being a mom, children consume so much of your time and energy that you forget the other things you really enjoy.  I'm just getting started with photography and don't know yet if I have any talent for it.  Maybe I'm not the next Ansel Adams, but I'm going to have fun working at being the best Portia Coleman and I'll have the blog to document my progress.  So Welcome  to PhotoMom!
